Check out this misbar!

I got this two days ago from my LFS. It's wild caught and came in with the shipment of ocellaris clowns. There's three characteristics that I noticed looked different:
1) It obviously only has 1 stripe.
2) The dorsal fin is not as tall as other ocellaris'.
3) The only fins with any black are the ventrals. Even misbars and naked clowns still have black on other fins and the tail.

Indeed the dorsal fin is not typical for ocellaris.Guess if itÃ"šÃ‚´s not a hybrid:confused:
Does the fish swim in normal ocellaris style?

Thanks for the comments.

What do you mean by normal ocellaris style?

Called "dabbling".The fish undulates itÃ"šÃ‚´s body while staying put.Very characteristic of all juvenile clowns but only retained by the ocellaris kin (including Premnas).A hybrid involving ocellaris and other species, should show only partially this swimming pattern.

In that case, then yes the fish swims like that, but it's still a juvie, no more than 1".

Yup, the color is exactly as in the pics.

I got another clown at the same time that's even more yellow than the clown pictured. They don't really get along though, which is why I couldn't get both in the same pic. They do sleep together at night though.

Humm... It will be intresting to see it in a year. My knee jerk reaction is it is not an A. ocellaris. The body shape is wrong looking to me. But since it is still so small, a lot of growth could chnage that.

You MIGHT have a A. theillei there. Any ideas as to the collection area? Who was the wholesaler? Which side of the US did you buy it on?

looks alot like JHardman's avatar :)
Good eye,ezhoops:)
I also thought it could be a thiellei.First one without the caudal saddle.
Black edging of the white bar looks poorly defined. And the ground colour is too yellowish for an ocellaris.

Wow, I think it looks exactly like an ocellaris without body stripes.
The theillei I have seen have a bit of a skunkish body shape. I think it is more of a case of the white stripes causeing an optical illusion. To me the naked ocellaris don't look like they have a normal ocellaris shape either.

I'm glad John Chimed in so we can compare. I don't think its a thiellei but like John said let's see it in a year.

I see how thiellei would make sense. I guess I'd have to wait a while to find out.
Unfortunately, I have no idea where it was collected. It was bought from a wholesaler called Pan Ocean here on the west coast.

Thanks for the help. If you've got any other ideas I'd like to hear them.

Why,this fish looks skunkish to me.I saw a stripeless ocellaris once and it still looked like an ocellaris...
Of course checking the fish is much better than pics in this respect.
