Check you sump pumps!!!

I have been traveling since Sunday. I arrived home this afternoon about 4:30 and went straight to the basement office to check messages. OUCH. It appears that with all of the melting the ground water around the house is very high. In ten years we've never had even a weeping wall. Nor have we ever heard the sump pump run. I found out why today. The float was stuck in the off possition. Probably has been since we bought the house. Water damage is isolated to mainly my office which is good. The down side is my office has all of the heavy stuff in it. A tank, multiple lateral fills all full. (They won't be by morning), a big desk, my puter, etc. Serve Pro will be here at 8:00 to access the clean up. I replaced the sump. and it has run pretty constant for about a hour. I have filled my shop vac four times with water and still have more to try and soak up.

Who knew ground water was so cold in the winter!!! buurrrrrr

Sorry to hear that but thanks for the heads up. I will check mine as well. Thats why though I keep a backup and mounted higher so I know one will always work Hopefully!!!!!!!

I actually just finished re-plumbing my sump system and checking out the pump in detail. Found out that the pump intace was severly blocked up. Good call on checking out the sumps. It is easily overlooked.
