First is the Salifert test kits. I recently started using the Alk kit as the Sea chem one I had went bad. The directions tell you to put a plastic tip on a 1ml syringe and draw out the reagent till the plunger is at the 1ml mark. It also says not to worry about the air as it wont effect the test, it is the air from the plastic tip. Ok, but this is .2 ml of air. Can some one confirm this is ok? If it isn't my alk may be lower than I expect and the below question is mute.
Over the past 3 weeks or so I have been working on slowly balancing my Alk, Ca, and Mg. I'm close, but not perfect and am wondering if I should try tweeking some more. I am inclind to stop. The Mg is at 1500, Alk is 2.63meg and Ca is at 500ppm. Now the alk "should" go up a hair and the Ca down. I'm feeling to leave it alone since I am so close and do not want to percip the Ca out. I could hold doseing, let the Ca dip and bump the Alk at that point. Any thought?
