Chemicals in our water supply

A while ago I sent a query to my local water utility asking whether they use chloramines in our water supply. They responded with a yes and included a report of the latest water analysis. Well, tonight while drinking a large amount of vodka and coke, I decided to actually peruse the chemical analysis. What I found alarmed me. It turns out they actually add a chemical called Dihydrogen Monoxide to our water supply. I googled this and found that it can"mutate DNA, denature proteins, disrupt cell membranes, and chemically alter critical neurotransmitters".

That got me thinking. My water intake (ice cubes) is sterilized with copious amounts of vodka and/or whiskey. But what about my RODI system? Nowhere have I read anything about it filtering DHMO (Dihydrogen Monoxide). This has me worried now that I may have been poisoning my reef. I have sent an email to BRS asking if they sell a filter for my RODI system to filter out this harmful chemical and am awaiting a response. Until I can find a way to filter this out, I will not add another drop of water to my tanks. This is just a heads up. Check your local water supply. You have no idea what kind of chemicals they may be adding to it.

I'd write or call buckeye hydro or spectra pure.

... Dang I just tested my display tank... I have super high levels of this stuff in there! Must be time for a new RO membrane or some better DI resin.

My levels are off the chart too! Brandon, do u think Lanthanum Chloride would help reduce this?

I bet it would I left work to test my tank and its full of it looking into best treatment options now.

I spent an hour on the phone with spectra pure and just bought a new Rodi to help stop the problem.. 99.9%,regection rate.

You could always turn your heater up and the ato off to get rid of it in your tank.

i hope you guys know a cheap fix. Most feet fungus/bacteria will consume this contaminate. Best/easiest way to get rid of it is use an old sock as a filter. Just put it in place where your normal "sock" filter is. (no pun intended)
Should clear up the water in no time.

The only way I have ever been able to eliminate it is to place my RODI water into a large pot and bring it to a boil. I boil until my test kit says zero then add to the tank. Takes for ever to make top off water like this.
