Hey all,

I live in Rockford Illinois. Bout 90 miles west of Ohare.....I can be in the big city in about 55 to 65 minutes from my house.

Anyhow I frequent the Hoffman Estates area to go to Beyond the Reef and Aquarium adventure....

My question is, are there any other kick a** stores I should check out that I can get to without driving all the way to the city.....?????

Sea Schor in Buffalo Grove is pretty good. Steve is the owner and is very knowledgeable. Watch prices, hate to say that, but he can be a little spendy sometimes. But he carries good stuff and I have never had any issues from anything I've got there.

Wow....I didnt realize that was the same Rods Reef that makes the food I use.....

I just assumed the makers of rods reef food were some big company in cali....or Arizona.....

Thanks for the tip....his website is all food related....does he have a good size store also....with all the other cool reefing equipment, supplies, and livestock?

Wow thanks Reef scene...I had no idea that the food I feed daily was made so close to home....I assumed a cool product like rods reef would be housed in a cali or florida.

Does he have all the other cool reefing goodies...i.e. equipment, corals, live stock?????

Agreed, he is still in business but strictly food and onyx clowns, his shop is still up and running but is on an industrial base now so he devotes his time to mainly LFS's and large companies. Also check out CMAS and the rockford forum here on RC. Hope that helps, Wiz

I personally like either Sho Tank Aquariums in Mundelein or Living Sea Aquarium in Park Ridge which is a couple mile off of Rt90.

I have been to a few others like Advanced Aquatics - Though it was ok the guy working there was a bit odd/bland.

sea shore - herd some mixed reviews reguarding the customer service

Exotic Aquatics in Algonquin - the selection of fish wsa very limited when i went there a couple of months ago.
