I am looking to buy a new chiller for a 150 with a 30 gal sump. I don't know what would be the best to buy a drop in or a inline. As I no longer live in Ft Lau. I need to buy on line. Any suggestions would be appreciated .

Hi,the size of your chiller can be affected by the amount of temperature "pull down" you'll need,as well as the volume of water.I'd would say that you are going to need a 1/3HP.I prefer an in-line chiller for a couple of reasons.First they are more effecient & second you can(if house layout permits)locate them remote from the tank,so that the excess heat/noise is not in the house.I plumbed mine through the wall into the garage,so I don't have to deal with those issues.I would also look(if you do select in line)for one that has the largest inlet/outlet pipe diameters,as it will save on back pressure/reduced flow from the return pump.HTH.

One of the many problems out here is the fact that you can not put a chiller in the garage. That was the first thing, that I thought of when we moved out here. My tank backs up to the wall of the garage, and I do have my top off tank in the garage. The garage must get 120 in the day as it has no AC in it. So the next best thing is to run it out of a utility room that would require a 30 ft run and right now that looks like the best plan. I need to find out what size pump I would need to make the run and put 4 ft of head pressure on it. Thanks for your iformation.
