chiller idea

if you took one of those small refrigerators and made a coil of plastic tubing on the inside and pumped the water throgh it would that work? i think so plus it would be cheaper then buying a chiller. i dunno just a weird idea that came to mind if someone had the extra parts to try it with.:rollface:

Forget it. Just save up your money and buy a good one. The small fridges do not have enough power to chill down the tank much, and pumping water thru a plastic tube will not cut it for heat transfer.

The plan has been tried by a number of people with a few different designs, but I think the mini refrigerator just doesn't have enough cooling power to efficiently cool anything but a nano tank without staying constantly on.
