Chiller

Okay. I've just got the mini Arctica installed and running on my 28 gal nano. Well, here is the question: It keeps the temperature +1/-1 degrees where you've set it. So, I set it at 78 degrees, it kicks on at 79.1 then drops the temperature down to 77 in 20 minutes...Okay, isn't THIS what I'm trying to avoid? A three degree fluctuation in 30 minutes seem a little frightening to me? All you more experienced people out there, HELP!

A 3 degree swing isnt as drastic as many will make it out to be......I wouldnt worry about it at all. You may want to set it a bit higher to avoid it kicking on and off as much. If you have ever been diving you will notice one second your toasty warm swimming along then the next second you hit a pocket of water that is atleast 5 degrees cooler...

Thanks Shane!
I feel much better now. I always thought my LFS was crazy when they tell me not to let my water temperature change as much as a couple of degrees because I know that, like you said, even nature has temperature changes often, then last week I noticed that my water got as hight as 84 during the day with my lights on so I took the plunge and got a chiller...well, $400 later, I hope my fishes and corals are better off... Now, hummm...were they better off with a "slow" increase in temperature increasing from 77 to 84 over 10 hours then dropping back to 77, or this 77-79 up down up down every few hours?
Sometimes I think the less I mess with it the better!
I'll set it at 79 and see how it goes...
