Hey guys and girls,

Just wondering how often your chillers kick in and out. I live in a hot place granted, but my chiller runs probably 4 times an hour for a 2 deg temp drop. kicks in @ 26, drops to 24. Its just i recon my sumps running to hot, its 12g and houses 3 pumps (return, skimmer and chiller). What are your views on this? I wonder if addind a small fan to my cabinet would help? cheers, Mark

I imagine a fan would help, evaporative cooling can be very effective if there's good access to fresh air (as opposed to just blowing hot air inside a canopy or stand). That does seem to be a pretty frequent cycle for the chiller, when I had mine it would only come on every 4-5 hours for about 30 minutes. Now I just use fans.

mine only stays on for like 4 minutes at a time. forgot to mention - total water volume DT 55G, sump 12g, 1/4hp chiller, and outside air temp 28 - 40 deg.
