I know a lot of the cleaner shrimp collected near Sri Lanka and other nearby areas have been hard to get in for the last year or two. I have heard that due to the tsunami that hit and flare ups in the Sri Lankan civil war that the collection industry out there has been really set back. The shrimps have definitely been coming in more regularly it seems in the last few months, though, so my best advice would to be to keep trying back.
Isn't it strange to think how much human activity and seasonal changes impact the collection of the supply for this hobby? I find it really fascinating.
I was hoping to be able to post a link but there are only a few discussions online I've been able to find. Wetwebmedia had addressed the tsunami and what potential problems monsoons in those areas can cause- With a tidal wave you only hope the animals in the water went to deeper water hopefully sensing what was to come. With monsoons you end up with a lot of soil erosion and brackish areas in shallower areas affecting the coast.
It would seem these have long lasting effects. I'm a little concerned about pollution too and am going to make a separate post on that here in a minute.
hope you all find what you are looking for and dont forget that if you're looking for something most if not all of our LFS will do their best to special order things for you if they aren't in stock.
