Choosing fish

I recently started a 75 gallon salt water. Started dec 1. Will be adding corals. Started with 5 green chromic. 2 died. I am ready to add another fish or 2. How do I decide what fish to get next? I'm looking for something with some color and different shape. Cardialfish, dottyback, wrasses all seem like they would work. How do I decide which to start with? Any suggestions?

Stocking can be a fun time but just as stressful. I really think it is as much of an art as about the biology, aggression and compatibility.

When I was in your shoes I looked at live aquaria, they have most of the common fish we see. went through and made a list. I then started culling it down by:

Is my tank big enough for an adult size

Is it aggressive

Is it reef safe

are they compatible with the others on my list.

when I had my list I floated it by the folks here on the forum.

One big piece of advice I would give is do research on the fish and do not impulse buy this usually does not end well. Good luck just my 2 cents.

Yes cycled with live sand/rock. All water tests good test at least weekly. 0. Nitrite 0 ammonia. Nitrate around 10-20. No quarantine tank.

The strategy I am using to avoid the " I just have to have that beautiful fish" impulse buy was to make a stocking wish list and email it to the owner of my LFS and ask him to help me acquire my list in the correct order, one at a time. That way I won't go impulse shopping and I'll get what I want. I won't add fish too quickly and overwhem my biofilter either.
