Chromis - Disease Identification

Several of my Chromis died from something that I think may be bacterial. I've been to a few of my LFSs and they couldn't really identify the issue, but that didn't stop them from suggesting that I purchase a number of different treatments.

The symptoms are as follows: normally a small area of swelling, this scales in this area eventually split apart to look like a wound, the fish starts breathing rapidly, it hides and won't eat, eventually loses a lot of scales and then dies.

I've attached a pic or I least i think i did.

I don't think formalin is recommended on open sores. I'd guess uronema also. Lost around 30 chromis to it in a couple different batches years ago. Gave up on chromis.

Although my experience with Chromis has been limited, i found them to be difficult fish. with my group, if they weren't killing each other to establish a pecking order, they were dying from this infection. i just have one left.
