Chromis with red marks

Noticed just in the last day or so that my chromis is developing a slight red tint to it's back third of it's body on both sides. Also, it's always been a very active fish, he doesn't even scoot away when I feed like the Naso I have in there does and now a couple times I have seen it trying to hide. It isn't always doing it, but a lot more often than usual. It's a 180 and his only other fellow fish is the blonde naso tang. I checked parameters just yesterday before I noticed this problem and everything is where it usually is. I have a touch of nitrates which have had the whole five months it's been running and my alkalinity is a touch low but I'm not sure that would be much of a problem or not.

They are known to get that problem. If not untreated death will follow soon. Need to remove and hospitalize them. Prazi is effective in treating this problem.

Unfortunately none of the local stores carry that and chances are if I order it online that the fish will be dead by the time I get it.

If it's Uronema, I would suggest you try to find some Chloroquine Phosphate and treat it with that.. you might inquire for it at a Veterinarian office. My chromis recently had a similar red sore develop, and CP resolved it quickly in a hospital tank.

I have a PetSmart locally and that's about it. If I have to, I can get to a Petco if PetSmart doesn't carry something but normally if they carry something, it comes up on their site and neither of those chemicals suggested come up at either site.

Agree on removing and hospitalizing; disagree about using Prazi. This is likely either a parasitic or bacterial infection, neither of which can be treated with praziquantel (prazi is an anthelmintic).

Given the prevalence of Uronema marinum infections with chromis, I would lean toward that diagnosis. There is a sticky at the top of this forum that discusses this disease; I would recommend reading it: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2388437

In short, Metronidozole or formalin (API Quick Cure) are the easiest meds to procure.

I'm going to get these down and hit PetSmart in the morning and hopefully they have something (I figure they should) for this sort of fish disease. Is there a chance this could spread to my Naso or is this a chromis specific disease?

I agree. First choice would be CP followed by Metronidozole or formalin (API Quick Cure). If untreated, they go quickly.
