Hey,

Anyone on here using Cingular Wireless for your laptop. Dial up is killing me and this looks like it could be my answer.

Would like to know what you think. LMK

Hey John,

How's it going?

I used my cell phone as a modem (Motorola Razor) when I was at Ft. Hood. It worked pretty good.

I'm sure you're talking about an "air card" or whatever it's called.

If you have a good cell signal it should be alright. I know Cingular put up some new towers on Hwy 149 in 2005, there's one behind Fred's at Hilltop, but I'm not sure what's out your way.

I guess I just wanted to say hello! I'm still in the bad place but will be home this summer...take care!

john, i know quite a few using verizons broadband service. the card itself is like 75 dollars and service is around 50 a month. theyve NEVER had connection problems inside or out, or in a moving vehicle as well. its always lighning fast. i cant comment on cingulars version though. HTH<~~~steve

Both cingular and verizon are about the same speed 400 - 800 kb or whateved they are. 30 day trial money back if not satisfied. What do I have to loose other than a visit or two to the phone store.

ive actually been entertaining the idea myself after seeing it work on relatives laptops etc. i also would get a decent price break/combo deal if i switched from my comcast to verizon broadband. let me know youre impressions, ive never seen the cingular in action. <~~~steve

p.s- take the laptop to the store, have them install it as initial setup is a little quirky but troublefree after that first time. also from my experience places like circuit city or best buy have a MUCH more attractive price on the card and plan. the phone stores eat you up wherever they can. i.e- the verizon was 70 dollars cheaper at circuit city for the setup than the verizon store in my case. HTH

Been thinking about that myself turbo. My comcast bill keeps going up and up! I maybe looking at an alternative.

Hmmm...

I had thought about doing this. I may even more now that my wife and I are on verizon.

The cool thing is that we have a Comcast 6MB line at home... we have had it for about 7 months... and Comcast has YET to put it on my bill! :D

I have no idea how it slipped through, and I didn't do it, but if they choose not to bill me, its their fault. I did all things I was supposed to!

So my reason for saying this is that maybe I could use the money that was dedicated to internet to wireless internet...

But, then again, I don't really travel that much...

Its an interesting thought, at least!

After 2 hrs. at phone store, and 2hrs. on phone this evening with tech. support still not working.

Tech. guy said take the card back and try another. Had it connecting once at a lesser speed than dial-up.

Will see what tomorrow brings.
