I wanted to get some information on the Cirrhilabrus Bathyphilus. For the past five months, I have been trying to locate this fish. Unfortunately, I have not seen any for sale. How difficult is it to find this fish? Do they become more available during certain time of the year? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I've been a fan of this fairy and been eying for a pair for a while now but usually only see the male. I think I see them on DD more often in the late Summer to Fall.

you don't see them very often and mostly males..though i have seen a few feamles here and there...i think we should see some in the next couple of months

I have seen pairs on divers den in the past. Once they appeared and were sold more replaced them frequently. I think the are only available at certain times.

I have kept this fish twice. One of my favorite fairy wrasses!! They are very hardy once acclimated. They are collected out of Tonga and the Coral Sea so they only come in sporadically. They are deeper water so they are fairly expensive. My recollection is that they seem to become more available during our summer months. They are most definitely jumpers so a covered tank is a necessity. They startle easily. One of my specimens was startled when I was working in the tank and bashed his head on the light shield and died. They can adapt to a very bright tank but they prefer a little more subdued lighting. Good luck with your search as they are well worth it.
