I remember a while back several of these fish made their way to US vendors and such. They were priced relatively high for a fairy wrasse, not for me but for most. I understand the issues with collection points, logistics, depths associated and the like. If I remember correctly these fish come from a remote area outside of Fiji?

Well they are back...........

Last year when Bluezoo had them they were priced over $500 for a pair, and I know that Live Aquaria had a pair for a little over $700.

Now BZ is offering this trio at $300. So is the market for this species just not that great in the US, or are these fish just being found in more accessable locations than previously?

Personally I think this is a stunning species and the story behind it makes this fish all the more fascinating to myself, but I can see how some may say it resembles fairys that can be had for $30.

Actually, they were originally only known from a remote region in Fiji... not in deep water but remote... Bruce Carlson found and described them and thought they were so beautiful he named the species after his wife, so be careful commenting on their beauty there Michael ;).

the latter... :)

It was sold in Japan two or three years ago and got a pair with a very high price. It is restricted to Fiji but one cannot see them everywhere, I hear.

:spin1: A great addition to any reef aquarium.

Thank you Mr. John!

Personally I do find these fish very attractive, but I have heard many others say it is plain.

Thanks for the additional information!
