Cirrhilabrus naokoae ?

its not overly aggressive like flames can be but ive never had problems with them dont keep 2 males together and yes i belive the female was descriped in 2009 by Dr. Hiroyuki Tanaka but they are often mislabeled the Cirrhilabrus joanallenae is often the fish mistaken

Thanks, I hadn't heard that the females were described. I'll have to look into that and the joanallenae.
My naokoae is mean. He killed a solorensis and postures and attacks the two small tangs that I have. I'm thinking it will probably be a bad idea to add other fairy wrasses, unless I can find a couple of females to keep him occupied.

Here's a pic of the naokoae attacking a very small blue tang. He's always been aggressive but tonight just relentless, he actually had the poor little guy pinned down against a rock just biting him like crazy and even my hand swatting from a couple inches away didn't phase him.
I added a couple of fish (butterflies) this morning. I'm sure it set him off when the lights came on. I snapped a few pics while he was on the rampage before I turned the lights back out. Here's one... (not the best but you get the idea - he's totally TO'ed as Napoleon would say).

I'm debating if I should attempt to either add another aggressive fairy (like a good size Scott's) or possibly a couple females of a similar species to keep him occupied. As far as I know the females have not been described so it would have to be a similar species. Anyone have thoughts other than trying to catch and remove him?

from others that i have talked to that have kept this fairy it can be alittle aggressive..it is closely realted to the rubriventralis and joanallenae and a few others but they are known to be a little aggressive for fairys..i had a joanallenae that was a nightmare..very pretty picture by the way..as for what else to do i don't know if i would add a scotts...they can be alot worse than this fish....sometimes adding some others helps and sometimes it makes things worse

I've had him about 1.5 years and he was not so aggressive at first, but there was a period of time he was alone in the tank and I'm sure he feels like it's all his because lately he's been very agro. The lights haven't come on yet today but since shutting them off yesterday afternoon he's calmed down.
What do you think of the idea of adding a couple of female pink margins or joanallenae? I wonder if he would see them as potential mates or just try to kill them. Of course I would have to find the females which I haven't seen either of that I can think remember.

Well, this fish has been caught. His aggression has just got to be too much. He's residing in my QT now and his attitude is more like a dog with its tail between its legs now... but I decided to attempt to sell him rather than taking a chance of re-introducing him only to have the aggression start again.
