Well, until I can get the 5.5g tank all set up, I decided to order and setup a 3g picotope. I received the tank Oct. 30. And that day I put water into it. I've yet to test for anything, but everything appears to be running smoothly. Once the 5.5g is cycled, the mantis will be moved to it, and the 3g will be emptied to be upgraded in various manners.
Picture of the tank the night I set it up(I need to clean up my desk before taking pics of it all cleared up)
I ordered from DFS:
1.1x-$41.99 JBJ 3g Picotope Aquarium Kit
2.1x-$9.99 10oz Caulk Marineland Silicone Aquarium Sealant
3.1x-$16.99 Hydor 50w Theo Heater
Free shipping
Grand Total: $68.97
I've had many heater problems in the past. The reason I went with the Theo was because it seemed like a reliable heater, and it has an shut-off switch should it leave the water. Thus far I am very pleased with everything I've ordered, and I can't wait to get back to working on my 5.5g. Which I will be able to do when I order/decide on a pump to use.
Once both tanks are going, I will be ordering the LEDs for both tanks, and then I will begin working on a permanent stand for both tanks, and maybe a couple more tanks, to sit on. This stand may end up becoming a new desk in entirety. I wouldn't mind having a new wooden and acrylic desk, my current one is starting to wear down a little.
