clam and calcium consumption

Is is true that Clams may consume more Calcium then say sps or lps? If so they may be taking up Cal that is needed for my sps and lps.

I dose two part to my mix reef right now every few days, but if I get a Crocea clam, I may have to dose every day?

I have 75g mix reef with alot of small sps frags, hammer, frogspawn and Open brain right now. Planning to get just one Crocea Clam.

In a 75 gallon reef it may not make the biggest difference but in my 29 mixed reef I was sucking up 20 ppm per day of calcium before I got 3 large crocea clams. Now I believe I am sucking up 30-40 ppm per day. I will be able to better tell tonight when I do my tests/maintenance. Haven't tested in a couple days....

Either way, I would dose like normal and check your calcium daily or right before you dose in order to determine if the clam is taking up more calcium. However, one clam in such a large tank I don't believe will suck up a noticeable amount of Ca.

Yeah you should be fine with just one crocea. It's not until you get a lot of little clams or a few bigs ones before you have to worry about that. Also with clams especially big ones suck up a lot of alkalinity as well.
