I just picked up some clams at the airport, and I'm mildly concerned. I do not have a functioning camera at the moment, so I have no pictures presently.
There are two Squamosa and one Maxima. They were drip aclimated for 45min into my 26ga bowfront quarantine. It's a fully functioning tank that's been running since October (it's a clam/coral quarantin, so no medication has been used, it's mainly for observing).
The params are:
Sal 1.025
pH 8.2
Alk 10
Calcium 430
Temp: 76deg
ammonia/nitrate/nitrite: 0
All three clams are gaping slightly, not surprising after a trip from Calif to New England. However, all three have their mantles folded inward. They're not jagged and I can see no signs of pests. Scrubbed them gently with a soft toothbrush just to be sure. Their feet look healthy and they a lot of new growth on the shell. I know it sometimes takes a while for them to adjust, but this just seems to be wierd behavior.
Long story short any ideas? Like I said, no camera atm so pics will have to wait until tomorrow. Until then, any suggestions would be appreciated! I'm afraid to freshwater dip them so soon after shipping.
