Clam fading..what's wrong?

Here is a picture of the clam when I first bought it. It was beautiful

Now the clam is fading and I'm not sure why. The clam was right next to my toadstool, which was touching for a while until I moved it away. The clam is also next to my monti and they're touching. I noticed the fading when the toadstool started to invade the clams space but since moving the toadstool the clam's color has not improved????

The pictures are not the greatest, sorry. Has this happed to anyone? Please help.

and I run two 14k 250w Mh. By the way, how do I know when to change the light bulbs or do you typically do it after a year of use?
