clam growth

What is a realistic growth rate for different clams, particularly, squamosa, maxima, and crocea, assuming adequate lighting and quality water. Also, if anyone has any growth shots, I'd love to see them.

Derasa grows like a weed:)

Heres a close up of our Gigas and Derasa. You can see the growth on the Derasa.... Both grow faster than our others.

Full tank shot of our 90 to see the others and get a better idea of their size...

in the derasa pic, u can see the new white growth. on my maxima, the new white growth doesn't go up like that, it tapers out to the side. i know it is a diff species, but still. and the clam isn't that big. maby 4 inches. why is this happening?

its just the different growth forms of the clams

Yeah I Keep all tridacna species in same tank and my crocea and maxima hardly ever have progress meanwhile my squamosa is growing so fast I doubt it's sucking all the nutrient out of the water that's why the others don't grow.

Cool pics of clam growth. I just purchased my first clam about a month ago (1 1/2" Maxima). It is doing very well so far. Mantle is really opening nicely and the colors are really starting to pop. I can see a little white growth on the shell so far. Hopefully I'll have some pictures soon. :D

my maxima has been growing fast. it has grown an outward ridge that gows out about 1/4 and inch in about 3 weeks.

My teardrop Maxima has grown about 1 inch in the past three weeks. I will try to get a picture of it and it has started showing signs of another growth spurt in the last few days.

Cool! Mine seems to be growing quickly as well. It's attached itself to a rock in the bottom of my tank, getting good light. I'm also adding DT's daily and everything seems to be going well. Are any of you guys doing anything else to make 'em happy?

I feed my tank phyto about once a week and that's all I do to help it in any way. It seems to get most of it's food from the zooxanthellae.

You cant really say this species grows this much in a month or a year. Each individual clam is different. Maxima-A will grow faster then Maxima-B. You should see some new growth, other wise i would be worried.
