clam in action

what the heck was that all about. Why does it do this?

What is the word I am looking for here? Spawning maybe? I am assuming that this is how clams reproduce but I am not positive on this since I am not a clam expert. It is really cool to watch, the clam looks like a volcano erupting

Could be spawning , or cleansing its gills also . Says in the clam book they expell excess simbiotic algae by doing that to .

Spawning for sure. Normally spawning is triggered by some sort of stress.

How is the clam now and did the other do the same once that one started? A lot of times, it is like a chain reaction.

This is a regular occurance for this clam. Only one clam does it and it does it every couple of months. The clam looks the same as it always does and is still growing.
