clam placement

hello. i have a 8.5 month old tank with a crocea clam that i got last week. It is a 40 breeder tank with 1X150 watt DE MH HQI and 2X65 watt PC actinics. I keep my clam right near to top because they were in a realy shallow tank with a 150 watt pendant. The clam is great looking. Extended and is colored nicely. However, i have a few SPS that are up in the same area. I cut down flow in the area where the clam is, but now im getting some diatoms and such on the rockwork (i am using filtered water, but it is DI water, not RO, and i do not have a diatom filter). I wanted to up the flow more there to make sure my SPS wont suffer and also to prevent any buildup of diatoms. I just wanted to know if it would be okay to put my clam more towards the bottom of the tank. Like 1/3 of the way up. The halide is a 10000K and it will still be right under the light, just lower down. The flow down there is also low-moderate.

I have a 40 Breeder with an Aqualight Pro 150W 14K Phoenix and 2 x 65W Actinics. My Crocea is directly under the MH about 10 inches down and doing fine.
