No....they could irritate a clam when crawling over, but they wouldn't/shouldn't prey on a healthy clam. That's not the kind of food they eat. What is your's doing?
I have a large crocea very healthy and happy yesterday. This morning I found the linkia almost all the way in the clam and eating. I pulled him out but the damage was already done. I've heard the purple linkia would do that but not the blue. The blue is big enough and stong enough to pry open the clam. I don't know but that was a very expensive meal.-Bob
Wow...if that was true predation it would be new to me. Since clam deaths are almost always so sudden is there any chance the death was unrelated to the star and the star was just enjoyign a free meal?
Hopefully it was just that he's enjoying a free meal and not causing it. That's the only bad thing about clams sometimes they just die. All my levels are perfect too. Just watch and wait.
