Below is a picture of my clam that i have had for 2yrs now...
I am not home in orlando and my gf is taking care of my tank...

She noticed that today my clams flesh is tucked in a bit exposing his shell on the left...does that look ok? I dont see it as a problem and may be ok by tomorrow...just curious...

I believe he has done that in the past, just not remembering right now...he may have been pecked at by a fish or something and may be upset...other half looks great...

I am not sure if that is ok or not...any takes? not like i can do anything about it until tuesday anyways, but wanted some opinions...

water chemistry is normal...

yikes. Who knows whats going on if someone else is taking care of your tank..

hopefully (most likely) everything is fine and it was just having a temper tantrum.

Keep us posted.

Maybe have the GF take a sample to the lfs?

Good Luck
Jess

You might want to move it around a bit, I had the same problem, mine started slowly on the back and progressed residing but it fully recover, my guess it was too close to the elegance but I can't tell for sure, this guy it's done this twice in 4 years.

How started

Yeah me too :) that clams is 17+ inches now. The coral below the clown was a 2 1/2 year goniopora, it didn't survived the tank upgrade :( or the clows were pretty rough with it.

I noticed one of my clams wasn't opening as much for a few days. I gave it a fresh water dip and moved it away from where all the fish hang out and he seams to be opening back up to normal.

My gf said he is back to normal this morning...must have been mad! lol

Thanks for the update though...if mine looks like that in the future maybe i will have a chance lol...
my guy is like 12" or so...

If he is staying like that don't hesitate to give him a fresh water dip for 5-7 minutes or so. That seems to be an effective "cure-all" for a few common clam issues. I currently have a 3-4" teardrop maxima that looked for sure like he wasn't going to make it, but just a day or two after the dip he made a full recovery and has grown a substantial amount. They don't seem to mind unless they're very stressed at which point iot may not even help much...

good luck!

Well news flash...got home today and found out what it was instantly!!! No wonder fresh water dips work well...

It was a worm making a home at the base of his mantle...looked like a Medusa or spaghetti worm because it was hiding in a sand tube that it made...

wow i tore that sucker right off and he looks happier...

GO FIGURE!!
