I picked up a Crocea clam yesterday. It's around 5" . I noticed this morning that, with the lights off, if I wall by the tank and cast any kind of shadow it will react to me. I could be 5 feet from the tank and it will still react. Is this normal?

yes, he's a little spooked from getting crammed in a bag and moved to a new tank. it would be more of a concern if he didn't react like that.

Yes totally normal. I had the same thing happen when I got my clams. They even do it when the main lights are on and they get indirect sunlight and I walk in between the window and them. It will get used to you walking in front of it in a couple of weeks or so.

Me too... lights fully on and I wal up to the tank and both my croceas close for a second. I think it is a good sign of health though.

This only being the first full day in the tank, I think it looks better now then when I bought it. So, I'm going to take it as a good sign.
