Clam won´t attach to rock

I have a small 2.5 T. maxima that has not attached to the rock (actually a piece of dead coral). IÃ"šÃ‚´ve had it for only a couple of weeks, but thought that for now it should had attached to it. it's sitting on top of the skeleton of a coral that is round, about 5" in diameter. The name escapes me as this particular skeleton came with a used tank I bought over 10 years ago. Anyways, I'm worried that it is not attaching, as that leaves it vulnerable to any crab or fish that may decide to attack the unprotected bottom, in case they flip it over.

Any ideas?

PS It's sitting in the bottom of the tank at about 26" bellow the lamp, I feed bioplankton every third day.

Thanks :strooper:

I have a 4" Maxima that has not attached since I've had him almost 8 months. Barry from clams direct said sometimes they will never attach? But they are still healthy. Keep him on the rock since he is new for awhile. I have mine on my sand bed:)
