Thinking seriously about doing a clam tank ... Where is the best to buy affordable healthy clams? ...anyone have somewhere they recomend?

Back in the fall Chris was selling some awesome ORA clams for the best deals I've ever seen on maximas. :)

You could try www.clamsdirect.com . i've seen people in the area get together a couple of times and put in a big order to save shipping costs.

Could do a group buy if there's enough interest. If you're interested send me a PM.

Not really enough interest so far. Might want to check out reefscience.com as they have a special going on. Looks as though they may need to be fed as the size is pretty small. Price is pretty good though.

which ones at clamsdirect? i've been checking there each time i get one of their newsletters and i haven't seen hardly anything interesting there since last summer. nothing that Z can't get for around the same price or less with shipping . for mail order, i'd put reefscience way above clamsdirect on the list these days. especially since it's barely within driving distance.

though, you probably need to get a few miles on the tank and figure how you're going to maintain calcium/alk before trying a clam or any other $$ livestock. we'll load you up with some various frags to try first to cut your teeth on.

id like to get one of those kalk dosers you make, i can pay you for it. ill put an aqualifter pump with a check valve on it.

the clams i liked were nothing special, but with a group buy i think it will actually be cheaper than z, also im not paying for it my dad is! (he loves clams)

clams direct is closed but the ones i liked were
c-403
c-49

I bought 10 from Reefscience (Chad) about 1 month ago, all but one came in healthy.. They are beauTEEEful!!! doing well and sign of growth-- without feedings.. only one was golden/tan :(
I would have ordered more this week (free shipping) but Chad said they were sold out.
