I know these are hard to come by but i may have found a source for a few.

Just trying to get more info from those out there who have been able to get ahold of 1 or 2.

How are they in regards to angels aggressive / semi / passive.

how are they as being hardy / yes / no

how did they or are they growing ? fast / slow?

and any misc info from just owning them / working with them?

ill hit google for as much as i can find but first hand knowledge is alot better.

yeah i got the WWM site thats where i got alot of info

im just looking to see if anyone actually got any and how are they if so

Their care and hardyness is very simililar to the passer angel, to which they are very closely related. They are not especially fast growers. They can be very aggressive, especially in smaller tanks, and are about as bulletproof as an angel gets. I just saw a very nice one on display at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, a very striking animal, just beautiful. I'm jealous!

Thanks for the info im working on it now trying to get at least 1 but want to see if my guy can in anyway get more than that. if so i have a 500g tank at the lfs they will go into and 1 will come home to my 300g.

just trying to get a feel for them husbandry wise sounds like it will work now i have to see if they can still be acquired and if so for how much.

want to get all research done before i actually try to get one mostly because i dont want to get a fish and have no idea on what it needs and doesnt need.

also looking for conspic angel info

A LFS by me has had one for 3 years now and it seems to be a very hardy animal. It is however semi-aggressive from what he tells me so he keeps it in his 500g show tank with other large angels and puffers. In that tank I have not seen it chase after anything and it keeps to itself.

If you get one good luck, they are great looking fish

They're very aggressive, well not as aggressive as say a Passer but aggressive. They do grow fast and are very hardy. They as Orange as a fish can get when an adult.

How are they in regards to angels aggressive / semi / passive.

----->Very agressive especially towards other angels and especially when kept by themselves for awhile and then intro new fish with them.

how are they as being hardy / yes / no
--->very hardy

how did they or are they growing ? fast / slow?
---->not fast not slow, they are eating machines though.

and any misc info from just owning them / working with them?
-----> the best fish (alot of) money can buy.

They had a good price tags before, but as long time's passing without any shipments, their prices are on the rise.

If you can obtained another specimen I'll be happy to buy it from you and to fly specially for it.

I had one in college. They make good captives, eat well, are long lived hardy. They need room and their demeanor remined me of just about any other domainant large angel. Mine was a messy eater and pooped a lot. I had a juvenile at first that after 3 yeras was just starting to show adult coloration. Like others have said, they do grow slowly. I sold it for $150 to $250 when I left college in 1998. What a mistake that was. :(

thanks for the info im waiting to hear back now but they sound like aawesome fish. i have a 300g tank with 90gal fuge and 90gal sump and a 5ft counter current skimmer.

fuge has about 300 pounds of live sand and live rock. main tank has about 240 pounds of live sand but thats only about 2 inches or so. went with shallow bed in display and fuge with DSB and live rock chaeto all the good stuff so i figure that should be good enough for large angels and other large fish.

It should be OK.

If you can get another specimen in a good price I'll take a flight to NY.
About time to see the Knicks, maybe Francis will change something.

hopefully im a loyal fan been so since the 80's

but i will def keep people in the loop cause if the price is too outrageous i dont plan on getting any at all no sense in doing that if they wont really sell but ill keep updated just trying to hear back.

I remember having clarion angels once in a while back when I worked at a LFS in my teens. IMO, they really pretty when young, but frankly, just orange/dirty orange as adults. And aggressive to boot. They were not big sellers back then, and they were affordable then too. They are VERY hardy.

good to know. as i have only seen pictures and the pics seem to portray very pretty fish.

this is why i asked. i knew there were people with first hand expierence out there and i thank everyone for the input

if you really want you can setup a trip to Baja and catch one yourself, you can obtain a permit from Mexico and then get an import permit from fiah and wildlife.

Julio i have been researching that all day

my wife and i will be going to baja and i will try to catch as many as i can.

trying to find out who to submit the permits to in mexico and i need to try and find out where to get import
