Clarity Plus Tank Owners

I have two of their tanks, two 150G 4'x2'x30" and am quite happy with them.

The only thing I would think about doing differently is I did a trapezoidal overflow in the center of the back and with the 2' front to back depth (all I could fit in my spot) the opening winds up being about 36" by 8" on the top.

This is fine for everything except getting big rocks in. But nothing a saw and/or drill can't fix :)

READ your warrantee information carefully. ANY, I repeat ANY, modification to the tank done by ANYONE aside from an authorized Clarity Plus representative will VOID your warrantee.

Trust me on this.

I was told by the LFS that I bought the tank from (who was an authorized CP dealer) that I could simply use a holesaw to drill 2 holes in the top along the back for a pair of SeaSwirls. When the tank top cracked a year and a half later (between the overflow and access port cutouts - not from either of the SeaSwirl holes) I was informed that I had voided my warrantee by drilling those 2 holes and had to pay for a new tank. Much arguing later, I ended up having to pay 50% of retail for a replacement tank.

Read all warrantees carefully.

I guess I should have been more clear.

I meant that the saw or drill could be used to 'fix' the size of the rock not the size of the opening.

When it comes to the main display tank that holds lots of water up high above precious things - like my floors and children - I have to admit that I am very hesitant to attempt to harm its structural integrity in any way.

Now my sump, w/c tanks, etc. is a different story.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Good policy on the modification to the tank though

I have their 225 from before they re-started the business. Although it has hold together for three years I notice crassing on the corners of the top opening which were two small for practical work inside. The smaller top holes were needed due to the undersized thickness used for the panes, at the end it is holding but the sides bulge too much distorting the view at certain angles. I know eventually I will need to replace it ad snow I notice some crazing on the joints. All that deformation shall be putting its share of stress on joints and hole corners.
