Clarkii Clowns Breeding Help!

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum and this is my first post! I am really excited to join and learn as much as I can about Clownfish and anemone's :).

Anyways, I have a pair of Clarkii Clowns and they have started the pairing/breeding process. The dominant (female) is now chasing the smaller clown and he is submissive.

I have a damsel fish in the tank from when I originally established the tank. The damsel is small and seems to always be around the male clown. Do you think the damsel will get in the way of a successful breeding process?

I also have (not because I bought it he was hiding in a live rock) Debelius Purple Reef Lobster that came along with a live rock. Will this be a threat to the eggs?

Any insight or suggestions would be great as I am fairly new to this. Thanks everyone!

[welcome]

The damsel will most likely become a target for attacks from the Clarkii -- back when I had my breeding pair they wouldn't let a 3 stripe damsel out of the corner rock work; opposite of their breeding site.

I can't speak about the lobster, never had one, but have a feeling that if it comes near the eggs the clowns will attempt to move it. That may or may not become an issue if the lobster is persistent.

Congrats.

thanks for the response

thanks for the response

thanks for the quick response!

My other question about when they do begin to breed is if it would be wise to get a breeding net of some sort to keep them in?

Better yet, what is the best way to ensure survival of the offspring?
