My clarkii's are getting black spots and I am wondering what it is.

Here is a pic...

He had them before I got the anemone. The smaller clown which you can't see in the pic didn't have them before, but now has them.

Its just them changing colors as they mature. My saddlebacks have done the same thing. Started out light brown, now they are almost all black

Nah, I'm not soaking their food. I don't think its from them changing colors because the smaller one is getting very small, seperate, black spots. Its not like its changing gradually.

Some clowns develop those spots when they host in something or it could be darkening from age.....or both :)

As long as he is eating and otherwise acting normal it's not much to worry about

Take a look at my male in that last picture. It has spots also. It started off with a couple and it just keeps filling in. My female has gotten almost completely black now. It started out looking like your clown and just filled in.

my fish look the same way as in your first pic...but the dark blotches are on their white striped areas...
anyone else ever see this???

My perc has 1 dark stripe. Nobody knows why. It's really weird but it's been that way for awhile now and nothing seems to be wrong.

Yeah, mine are on some of their yellow fins. I'm still not convinced its their age that is causing these spots.
