I just bought a scarlet hermit crab, two turbo snails, some nassarious snails, and some cerith snails. Some of them already berried themselves in the sand bed. Is this normal?

For the nassarius snails, this is normal. Cerith snails will sometimes get under the sand too, but never 100% submerged IME.

Not really. Your hermit crab will probably pick off a few snails here & there over time, so just let nature take it's course I guess.

The nassarius snails will spend almost all of their time submerged. They only really come up when you feed the tank. Other than that they keep the sand bed stirred and help keep it clean.

Or when something tasty falls to the sand. One of my porcelain crabs lost an arm. When it hit the sand, here come the beasts!
