cleaner shrimp dead, possibly attacked

I just bought a cleaner shrimp yesterday and this morning we found him dead, his body was attacked. I am not sure if he died on his own and then something was just eating him or if he was killed by another animal. Anyone got any ideas? I checked my levels and they are good. Everything else in the tank is fine. Is it possible the Fire Shrimp or Emerald Crab attacked him? My livestock is also listed in the order I added them in the tank since I had it.

Just out of curiousity, what type of clown do you have?. I don't know if anyone has ever heard of a clown going after an invert, but I know my Tomato Clown is one mean S.O.B toward the other fish.

did you acclimate him? are you sure it wasnt his shell. I know it sounds stupid, but mine shed and for a couple minutes I thought he was dead. I had a blonde moment.

no, it is a tank raised, Ocellaris Clown. I just can't figure it out, he seemed fine yesterday before I went to bed. Tank levels are a-ok, I just wonder if the fire shrimp got mad that I had another shrimp.

I acclimated him, took about 35-45 minutes. He didn't molt, this was him, his body was eaten.

Shram, Where did you get yours? I bought 2 from TT and they only lasted a week or so. I don't think my clown attacked them. All I found of them was there molt. My tank is stable. I am starting to wonder if I have an unknown predator.

I got them from Pets Inc. in Tempe. He seemed a-ok yesterday, I just wished I knew if he died on his own and then something feed off him or if he was attacked and killed.
