Cleanig Out Plumbing Once a Year?

I read on Reef-Eden that you need to clean out your plumbing to get rid of bio and algal films that reduce flow. While it does make sense, how could you do this when your pipes are cemented together? Does anyone clean their plumbing? Do I need to?

I dont think so..... had my system run 2 year straight and took down my return pump. Had a brown slime on it but no more than a couple mils thick. In an industrial setting they use a PIG. You could make one and run it through your system if you want.......

I wouldnt sweat it.

Just inspect it as you go along. And keep the plumbing out of the light.

I had horrendous sponge growth at one point that caused some backup in my flow. But, that was right at the overflow and was easy to clean out.

Liquid Plummer worked for me, and for some reason I don't have to feed my fish as much anymore. Win, win.
