I'm working on getting my 14 month old 75 gal reef looking like it should and need to clean all the rocks as I only have 2 corals
How can I steralize or make sure the brushes I use are safe.
Yes I have algae problems that I am working on.I am upgrading my water change system and adding more flow to my 75 Gal reef which I believe what is the biggest problem causing the algae.
Waiting for my new XF230 MAXSPECT GYRE PUMP W/CONTROLLER
This along with the Stenner pump that I am hooking up for continuous water changes I hope we'll solve my problems.
The rocks should be removed from the tank for cleaning..
Or you aren't doing a darn thing to export the nutrients in the algae and they will just return right to your tank and now the algae (smaller particles now) will be spread all over the tank.. Not a good idea IMO..
And flow is not the sole problem at all.. Flow rarely is.. You probably have elevated levels of nitrate/phosphate.
If you want to do it right I would pull the rock (1 a day or so) and then soak them in 50% tank water/50% hydrogen peroxide while you scrub away the algae with a toothbrush..
All my water parameters are good the problem started from not doing water changes and not having a RO/DI unit that was up to the job.As I get ready to do everything I will keep what you say in mind.
Thx Phil
