Cleaning tank at car wash?

Anyone ever clean a tank/skimmer/sump with the high pressure hoses at a self-service car wash? I know that at first there is some soap remnants, but was hoping that after letting the hose run with water only for awhile that all the soap would be gone.

Any thoughts on that? Too risky?

Thanks,

high pressure hoses dont really take off much gunk. its all based on what type of detergent you use. I have one at work which we use to clean engines and unless you use a degreaser the crud on the engine does not come off with the pressure washer. An even better solution to cleaning is to steam clean, this actually does work but i dont know where to get a small one.

Don't do it. The same hose is used for both water (high-pressure and final rinse) and engine degreaser/tire cleaner......bad bad idea.

Yah, to much power I'd think u'd run the risk of blasting the silicone right off the glass.

Use vinegar it works wonders.

Then again i have a tank that came from a petshop 20yrs+ ago and on the side you can clearly see a 12x12inch square were no matter what I do I can't get 'clean' not exactly sure what could have caused this to happen (its kidna foggie, not scrached but not as clear)
