Cleaning tank without losing sand

I have noticed little poop pellets on the sand bed and being SLIGHTLY OCD its making my @$$ twitch. So when I did my water change tonight I ever so lightly grazed the bed with the siphon to clean the "poop" (I swear its from that cranky blood shrimp) I lost some sand from the cleaning. Not a lot but I am concerned bout over time a little will add up.... I want it all bright white and pretty but the shrimp isn't litter box training as planned.... ;) Can you add additional sand to an existing setup without making a HAYOOOGE mess or causing problems? Thoughts?

you can add sand with out any issues , you will get some cloudiness but it will go away
its best to rinse the sand well in some r/o water before adding to minimize the cloudiness. i keep my sand clean with a few fighting conchs and nass snails but i have in the past vacuumed my shallow sand bed. just grazing the top will not cause any issues , i have found that if you only have a inch or so of sand its just easier to vac it out

I am looking for some fighting conchs now. I checked Memfish and they didn't have any so I am waiting until their next fish order arrives, maybe they will get some in. I heard that they do keep alot of the waste cleaned up. Yeah my sand bed is about 1 to 1.5 inches... I will just keep doing that and add sand as needed. Thanks for the info.

Its funny to me how some of us like Memfish and others like Kermits.

Nobody ever mentions that other high dollar place!!!

I got a gift cert to Memfish for my birthday from some friends (BEST GIFT EVER! lol) so I just started going there. I have been to Kermits. There is a really nice guy that works there that took ALOT of his time answering my questions when I began this adventure :) I wish I had asked his name. I will give them a shout when they open, they are close to my work. Thanks :) Guess I better get to work... Bike nights gonna be rained out it looks like so I will get do taxes tonight - Rather be eaten alive by fire ants :( Ya'll have a good day and thanks for the info

The owner of the "high dollar place" is a nice guy. I think his pond servicing business is driving a lot of his time and focus.

Well I assume/hope this town if big enough for more than one shop as it is nice to have choices and variety. However, I agree that it is funny how we all seem to find different things about one or the other that we like the best. Here is to all of their success

Don't know if they were fighting conchs, but I saw a few live conchs at the asian market downtown Memphis over the weekend - they were very cheap. Almost got one just to see if it would survive, but it was probably from colder waters. They had live margarita snails $5 a pound though... I'd imagine there are quite a few snails in a pound.

The one off of Cleveland - I think the name of the place is Viet Hoa maybe? I was there Saturday. In the back with the live fish and crabs they had a bucket full of snails. They also had a variety of conchs and some live crabs and shrimp.
