Clear Calcium Reactors?

Why do calcium reactors have to be clear, what benefits are there?

If I can get a CO2 system for around 120 dollars and just build my own calcium reactor out of PVC I save a lot of money!

Basically the question is what drawbacks would there be to building a calcium reactor out of PVC?


Also what pump should I use if I do build my own?

You can....I`ve seen lots in the DIY forum.Look there and You can probably find some DIY`s that are not clear.Only thing negative I can think of not being clear would be not being able to see how much media is in it.A mag 3 or 4 will work.Guess it depends on how large the reactor is.i have a duel chamber MRC good for up to 500 g`s and it has a mag 4.
