Clear plastic containers = phosphates??

Hi all - Someone in my local club told me the clear plastic totes (like the kind you get at walmart) will leech phosphates into your system... Can anyone confirm this? I'm currently using one as a sump under my tank to house all of my "goods"... I'm wondering if I need to change this out ASAP....? My tank is new - about a month old so I'm just wrapping up the cycle now.

I haven't experienced any problems what so ever with mine. 2+ yrs and counting fwiw.
