closed loop advice

I am looking for advice on this question I posted in a different fourm.

I am looking at upgrading my pump to a Dolphin. My current setup is a AGA 210 with both overflows on one of the 30" ends. It is viewable from 3 sides. I have 18 3/4" tees that are caped off & drilled comming up through the DSB to give bottom flow. My question is for my 2 returns, instead of the 2 flex lock lines, would it be better to run some 3/4" PVC the lenght of the top of the tank, and dill holes on the bottom side giving flow from the top. The rest of my flow is made up various power heads. Soon to be upgraded to tunze. TIA

unless you want to submerse the length of PVC it's going to cause excessive salt creep, if you do submerse it you run a far greater chance of overflowing the sump in a power out situation if the sump, even with a siphon break.
