closed loop and drilling question

1. Is there a huge risk in drilling glass on a 2 year old tank. It would be bye a well exp. glass company and the hole would be 1 3/4 inch.

2. i building a closed loop for a 185 custom tank(48x30x30). I was wondering if anybody had some ideas on outlet postions. I built on for my 75 and couldnt get it right. there were dead spots and some places were getting hammered. I know it hard to tell were to put them without being present for it, but was hoping someone had a close in shape tank to give me a good idea were to start. i will be using a dart pump.

was that the 29 gallon system. Reef-flow(dart) said i would lose close to half the gph if i use swcd system. i used his outlet placement for my 75 and had a bunch of dead spots.
