closed loop on back?

anyone have an opinion as to which would be a better set up? I have a tank with an overflow that is in the center of the tank on the back wall. I want to drill two holes on each side of the tank...one lower and one higher, on each side. (still on back wall) From that I want to have (on each side) one hole that moves water to the other side. I was thinking of moving water from the top holes to the lower holes...but then I wondered if it would be better to move it from the bottom holes to the top...? Any one have a preference?

For example...I wanted to go from the top left hole to the botom right hole. I figured that would supply a really good circulation in the tank and reduce dead spots on either side by mixing the water. Is that just a dumb idea or would it be beneficial?

thanks

I think that going from the bottom to the top. this will get good circulation, especially as water seems to drop and sink naturally anyway, moving water up would be beneficial.
