Have an Orange Striped Goby, sand sifter, that I have had for about 4-5 years. Over the last week it has developed cloudy eyes. Does not appear to have any injuries, fins appear fine, color is a little dull, it no longer sifts sand or is able to eat that I can see. Sits on various corals, which it has never done. All other fish seem fine, no symptoms I can see and all eat very well-little pigs one and all. Clowns lay eggs on a regular basis, one clutch after another. Parameters are good, SG=1.025, nitrates=0.2~, nitrites=0, ammonia=0, calcium=450~, temp=80-81(where I have always kept my tanks). Corals, mainly leathers, feather dusters, crocea clam, various shrooms, anthelia (a cursed coral if there ever was one) - all doing fine. Run carbon, Kent Nitrate Sponge and skimmer 24/7. Current maintained by two Aqueon circulation pumps, each rated at 750 gph, 2 small pumps to agitate surface, each rated @ 20 gph, 46 gal bow front tank, lighting is hamilton 250w mh with dual actinics and dual purple. The toadstool leather, which is monstrous, sloughed a couple days before I noticed the goby's eyes, but this is nothing new and has never affected anything in the tank, in fact I have seen the goby eating this stuff from time to time. Any ideas? TIA!
