I have 2 percula clowns that I bought together months ago. I had them both in my 45 gal fowlr tank with out much issue. Some of the Damsels in my tank were bullying the smaller clown, so I puled the trigger on a 14 BioCube to move both clowns into and start some corals (no corals yet).
They have been in the cube for 2 or 3 weeks now. Recently the bigger of the 2 clowns (now about double the size of the small one, they were much closer in size when I got them) started attacking the small one. I noticed some minor fin damage that was not there the other day, and this morning the big clown chased the small one around for a good 2 minutes. I wasn't sure they would both make it through the day. I have a small tank to put fish in, and put it into the actual tank for this (I call it the time out tank). I put the bigger clown in the little tank this morning, and let it out for feeding time. almost right away it started chasing the other clown.
My plan now is to put the bigger more aggressive clown back into the big (45 gal) tank, and leaving the smaller clown in the cube. Is there anything else I should be doing..? any other way to handle this? I did not want to separate them, but I don't want them to fight because I like them together. any input is appreciated. Thanks.
my tank perams are:
45 gallon:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate about 40 ppm
PH - 8.0
S.G. 1.024
temp 78º
bio cube:
