Clown fish hosting Torch Coral

I have a true percula clown hosting a torch coral. I think the torch is damaging his fins because every once in a while they are frayed. I'm thinking about buying an anemone for him to host, but before I do, will he stop hosting the torch to host a new anemone? If so, what kind of anemone do you recommend for a 55 gallon reef tank with a crocea clam and a copperband butterfly as tank mates? Would an ocellaris clown pair up with my true percula if i purchased a juvenile one?

Thanks!

More then likely the clown will go to the new anemone. Especially since the anemone will have less of a sting then the torch. I would recommend an E. quadricolor as they are easy to care for and are now readily available as tank raised specimens. Yes, the clowns can bond and there are hybrid offspring from this pairing. Why would you want to do a mixed pair?

Do you think that my copperband will bother the e. quadricolor? The reason is more an economical one than anything else. My true perc was $60 and tank raised ocellaris are at ten. I'm not even sure if I will be pairing anytime soon, but had that question itching at my brain.

Thanks,

I had my copperband in with about 50 BTA's for years without any issues. I also have friends with copperbands in the same tanks as anemones without issues.

You might be able to find some tank raised percs locally that are cheaper. Where about are you located?
