clown has ich

I have had him for 2 weeks now.Thursday I noticed A white spot and today he looks like someone sprinkled white dust on him. I tried to get a pic but he is a super active swimmer.

From what little I.ve read so far hypo salinity seems to be the safest remedy. I have him in a 10 gallon with a tailspot blenny, sexy shrimp and various snails and crabs. And A few corals.

Can I lower the salinity in this tank or do I need to set up a whole new tank? And if so do I need to treat the tailspot to? he looks fine so far. I want to make sure I do everything right.
I'd appreciate any help/advice.
Thanks

Before you begin treatment, do a quick search on Brooklynella. Typing that into Google images will yield some photos you can check against your clown. You just want to be sure it's not Brook, as treatment for that differs from Ich.

Is the 10 gallon tank your main tank? Even if you set up another tank to treat him, your main tank, assuming it is, will have ich in it as well. You might as well do it in the tank its in but i cannot say what the effect will be on the corals or shrimp. I haven't tried it before.

Looks like I really need to get a photo of him to make sure. I'll get on it.

you need to treat all fish if this is ich, inverts (snails, shrimp, ect) won't be able to handle the treatment and they cant get ich anyway, they can only carry it.

Yes, it could be oodinium or Brooklynella, both of which kill quickly and are treated differently than cryptocaryon irritans.

I have a kessil ocean blue on that tank and I can't get pics with my phone. Everything looks to blue. My wife has a nice camera so I have to wait for her to get home later and snap a pic for me.

So I need to set up a hospital tank and drop salinity to 1.09? Do I put the blenny in to even though he doesn't show any signs

All fish (and only fish) that shared water with the infected need to be treated.

Or I guess I should ask which treatment do you guys recommend?

Being you only need to treat 2 fish, I would use tank transfer. Read more about it here: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1996525

If after reading you don't feel tank transfer is right for you, I would consider copper treatment as the next best alternative. Most folks use a medication called Cupramine.

Opinions vary on hyposalinity. I just feel it's too difficult to execute properly, and hypo resistant strains of Ich have been proven to exist.

Excellent advice!!

Ok after some reading I,ve decided to go the cupramine route. I have quite a few inverts and corals in the tank though. Could I set up a 5 gallon tank with a small hob filter and treat the fish in that tank so I dont get copper in my other tank?

I was thinking I could use water and a small rock from my big tank. That should be enough beneficial bacteria shouldnt it?
Let me know if this could work or if it's a bad idea.

I should add I would leave the fish in that tank for 2 months. That would be long enough for the ich to die in the other tank correct?
