Clown starting to host GBTA?

Hey guys,

My GBTA has recently moved and is kind of staying in one spot, well not in exactly one spot, but around one spot. Before, it was more in the back and a bit "hiding", still in the open, but in between the cracks of two rocks so it was a lot more "hiding". Now, I have been observing my male ocellaris clown going headfirst into the anemone quickly and seems to be nipping at it and the tentacles. Might this be a sign that it is starting to get used to the GBTA, and might it start hosting it? It is basically poking its head in the GBTA.

Thanks!

Watch for nipping, it could damage the anemone. If it does bit off tentacles you need to seperate them.

Have you two got some kind of competition thing going on?

They will check it out first, swimming close looking at it, touching lightly, one of mine gave to give it a flicks with it's tail, I have never seen one of mine just jump in without first investigating it somewhat.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to do any damage when it does it. It just pretty much goes in and nips at it, but so far I have not seen anything bad happen. I think it might just be "testing" it out. No, no competition that I can see.

Ah, that explains it, in another thread you two were "see I told ya" now I get it. Ok
Sounds like it may be hosting soon for you, but still may be a while, there is now way to tell with these goofy fish.

Well, updates are here. So, the male goes into the anemone and kind of swims around, almost being hosted. It just sort of swims around in it a little and then nips a few tentacles with no visual damage being then. Often, then, the female comes in and sort of pushes him out, and the male shows submission by shaking. Then, they are both around the anemone swimming in and out of it and nipping a tiny bit, no damage done. Then, they get out, swim around the tank a little, and the cycle starts anew. I'm guessing they are really getting used to it now, and that their time spent in the anemone will grow. Right now, the anemone is maybe about 6 in. when open.

My clowns didn't initially take to my rbta's.
After a few months, they started investigating, and 'sucking' on the area where the tentacles meet the foot, at a bulb type formation.
Soon enough they were in.
