Clown Trigger

Hey guys,

I wanted to know, if it's safe to add a baby clown trigger to my tank with hermits? I am not sure if he will kill them all or leave them alone. Does anyone have a clown trigger in their tank with hermits? Thanks everyone!

If he doesn't kill them right away, he will eventually. I have a clown trigger and he hunted down every hermit besides one. Either the clown trigger couldn't find it or the hermit out smarted the clown. The hermit only comes out at night from hiding to forage and goes back to hide before the sun comes out.

It's safe for the trigger, not for the hermits (I'm going under the assumption that you have an appropriately sized tank for the CT, meaning huge, and you're willing to accept the potential of losing everything else that's living in the tank.)

eventually, he will eat them all...having said that--- I do add small blue legged hermits for my triggers to eat...it keeps them occupied and also allows for natural predatory behavior...

I had a clown trigger for 2 years from a baby and he never once touched a snail or hermit... like always, it will depend on the fish itself
